Dear Special Son,

You are so very special to me!. My pride in you, and your many accomplishments is great, but my admiration for who and what you are, far over shadows any educational or material gain you have achieved. Never forget that money is never enough and you never have enough of it; education and learning of books continue to change as knowledge increases, but God's Word is lasting, fulfilling, comforting, encouraging, enriching, chastising, and never changing in its truth.

Always stay tuned and keyed in to God's truth to you in His Holy Scripture. Remember they are fragrant, sweet, love letters form Him to you! No human being can live up to your expectations of them, neither can you fully live up to your own ideas, or others ideas, for you completely, but God is there to help you try, even when you can't, or won't, acknowledge it. God has given us each the privilege of choice - right or wrong. Sometimes you will make the wrong decisions, prayerfully you will also make many right decisions. There will be times when you will feel everything inside of you leaning in a wrong direction. Don't be too eager to trust those feelings and emotions. Run those decisions through scriptures first, seek council from a Christian whom you admire and trust not to scratch your ears, but who cares enough to comfort you with the scriptural and spiritual consequences of that decision. Work out your thoughts and decisions regularly on paper - plan - It is often amazing and wonderful how putting down on paper a clear thought or statement of a case helps one to see, not perhaps the way out, but the way in. You are at one of the most exciting points in your life and I would do nothing to discourage you or sadden you but I have heard it said by someone in their 40's, "What right did a 22 year old kid have to plan what I was going to do when I was 40?" But it is the truth - You have already made many decisions in your past that have got you this far. You are making key decisions right now that will affect that 40 year old man in the future - education, work, marriage, etc. Plan, Plan, Plan, Pray, Pray, Pray - Then when the decision is made, don't look back, trust God to lead, direct, and then Praise your-guts-out! Remember that we are all faced with a series of great opportunities brilliantly disguised as impossible situations. God specializes in the impossible situations!! NEVER FORGET THAT, even if it's only an act of your will that is holding on to it. Some deal with deep trials by running away, either physically or emotionally, but only if you stay and allow God to direct you through the fire will the true growth of character come through and allow God to direct you into the power that His victory brings. Be a "Gimper" -(One who aspires to excel to be different, committed to the core thoroughly and unequivocally.) It is true, trials will come, sin will show its ugly face, but you have been given by God the veto power over Satan - use it!! There is no happiness for people at the expense of other people. Remember that finding a sliver of Glory in another human being can make a day worth living, and calling other people's attention to their own best qualities is a fantastic form of Christian vocation!

You are a Special "Gimper" in my book - I love you and am proud to be your second MOM! Never forget that you are special to Jesus, and to me - and I'm always here for you if you need me!
