In my memory, we have suffered storms every year, especially in the summer. The storms come with overwhelming strength, but don’t usually last a long time. The most important reason that causes this type of climate is the geographic reason; the region which we are located in. Our country is located in the eastern part of Asia and west of the Pacific Ocean. The weather in our province is part of the temperate marine climate. Due to the effect of the monsoons, there are lots of storms in the summer. The worst storm I remember in my lifetime happened when I was just eight years old studying at the primary school. After continual rain for several days, everything appeared to look so clean and so lazy. Trees were wearing green coats, but they weren’t straight. Raindrops dropped like beaded curtains. The world had all been heavily washed. One day that summer, although it was raining outside, it wasn’t as heavy as some days before. After I finished my lunch, I went to school. On the way, while I went though the fores t , I heard the sound of the trees falling down, which made me feel very terrible. On that afternoon, about seventy students were studying in the classroom, the language teacher was writing on the blackboard. The windows had no glass in them; I saw dark clouds moving quickly towards us. I could not concentrate on the lesson. A few minutes later, lightening lip up the sky ahead of our school, wind was roaring and it poured. Nothing changed, the teacher still taught and the students learned, even if I was not able to see clearly what was on the blackboard. Outside the classroom, clouds nearly covered the sky, there was no one moving on campus. The rain poured down continuously. Suddenly, one of the trees beside my classroom was lifted up by the strong wind. Rain and wind ran. The roof of the building began to tremble I could feel it. Maybe the teacher was responsible for her work and did not notice the change, so she did not tell us to go home. After several minutes, an unfortunate thing occurred, water was flooding our classroom the tiles on the floor were picked up by the strong wind and were carried away. We could not prevent the things that were going to happen. All of us climbed on the top of the desks and stood together. At that moment, an unknowing scare welled up in my mind. I feared I would not see my parents any more, so I cried loudly. I did not care about other student’s appearances. The only thing that I could be sure was that everyone was crying. Finally, we were lucky the depth of the water in the classroom was no more than 20cm. Several hours passed, parents picked up their students. The weather did not change its appearance, God’s eyes never closed, because it rained continually. Now, I know I think a lot about that time after all I was very young. That was the storm that happened in 1998. It remains fresh in my memory even today. Nearly all my country was flooded from the heartless water and the crops were damaged by the heavy storms. The natural environment can be heavy handed. Now we face the consequences that nature has caused, such as the Greenhouse effect and the coldest winter we have had in years. The winters are becoming more and more serious. We must come to realize that we need to find a way to deal with Mother Nature, and then nature and we will have happy days.
