It was the worst storm I had ever seen: there was no snow but heavy ice, no sunshine but non-stop rain; it trapped millions of traveling vehicles and prevented people from traveling. On the thought of staying at home, I felt disappointed, because I had planned to visit my friends and I hated to sit at home. However, the news that my uncle would come back to our hometown made me a little bit happy.

When my uncle was on his way home, I was lying in the bed to keep myself warm on this freezing rainy day. My cousin, an unattended child, kept sending text messages to his father with my cell phone, and immediately passed the news to my grandfather who was looking at a map carefully with his glasses.

Suddenly, the dog’s barking outside broke the silence. I put on my clothes quickly, and my grandfather rushed out of my bedroom, only to find that there was nobody but a passerby. Disappointed, we went on waiting.

The light rain was still falling…

When the clock hit 11, I was woken by noises. I put on my coat, and walked out following after the noise. Finally, I caught sight of a mid-aged man who was clutching his hands tightly with gleaming eyes, and an exhausted face. That was my uncle! As he entered the house, I could not say anything more but greetings, because my grandparents kept asking him about the journey.

Sever days later; I had a chance to have a deep talk with my uncle. I still remember the electric power failed that night, and that we were talking about my cousin’s study. I understood my uncle’s worries and gave him some advice. At that moment, I felt proud for it was the first time that my suggestions had not been ignored.

In the following days, the idea of going out didn’t occur to me, and I had a good time with my family. In some sense, I really appreciated this storm. It was because of this storm that I comprehended difficulties of my uncle’s coming back to our hometown, that I understand the meaning of happiness—enjoying where you are; and I found the warmest place in the world—my family.
