How cold it was outside while quite warm inside! Because exciting news came that one of my good friends would get married on January 14 2008. I was invited to her wedding feast. Therefore, no sooner did I receive such a message than I bought one ticket for the train, which brought me to her hometown. After two hours’ trip, I was surprised to look and see that the outer window was covered with glittering and twinkling snowflakes, here and there laid inches of snow, unblemished and flawless. Mountains and trees were wrapped in silver and whitening clothes! What a stunning landscape! It added more flavor and color to this journey! As expected we finally arrived at our destination. As soon as we got off the train, I was immediately stung with a sharp sense of cold, making me tremble. We were whipped by the roaring wind and shocked by the view that unfolded before our eyes. On both sides, there were trees falling down due to the heavy, icy frost on them. The road was gloomy and had heavy traffic. The majority of the businesses were also brought to a stop. The worst thing I perceived was the failure of electricity and the severe lack of water - supply. How could the inhabitants sustain their fundamental lives? Could they tolerate such intolerable anguish, such as the cold, hunger and maybe worse? A thread of overwhelming and throbbing doubts haunted my mind! Later, I got answers from my friends. I cleared up and erect much respect for the citizens who had toiled more than ten miles to fetch the necessary water and climbed up dangerous and slippery hills to cut down some trees for the resources to get warm. Nevertheless, the people still had smiles and jolly glows on their faces because the results were that they could fight against the “ demon “ storm, shoulder to shoulder and go through it with their hearts and souls closer to each other than ever before!
